Alright, after a month off it's time to get back to the cutting, measuring, and sewing with the Clay's Choice block. My mom, Marion, has this month but left the blogging to me.
You'll need 4 colors, preferably shades of aqua, teal, light blues, and you can add in a couple neutrals if needed. My mom just doesn't want any true/primary color blues.
First off all the cuts are as follows:
-Four 3 1/2 x 6 1/2 in. rectangles in one of the colors (we used the dark teal for this, but any of the four colors can be used).
-Four 3 1/2 in. squares in each of the remaining three colors, 12 squares total of the combined fabrics.
Now on to piecing it together...
Start by sewing together 2 of your squares together, repeat till you have 4 pairs sewn together.
Next take the remaining four 3 1/2 in squares and draw a line diagonal down the middle (wrong side).
Lay on top of the rectangle as shown with edges lined up, and sew on the line.
Cut the outer fabric off 1/4in from the line.
Press open, and repeat with the other side of the rectangle. Be sure to place the second square on the rectangle so that the line runs parallel with the seam you just sewed. Complete this on all four rectangles.
Now take the rectangles and pair up with the 2 squares you sewed together earlier. However you pair the colors, make sure that all squares are are identical before completing the block.
Take the four squares and lay as shown below to sew together.
And once those 4 are sewn you have a finished product, Clay's Choice!
If you have any questions, let me know!
This one looks like fun and looks awesome!
